VEGF E (Orf Virus)
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor-E (VEGF-E) is a recombinant protein derived from the Orf virus, encoded by a gene homologous to mammalian VEGF-A. Expressed in E. coli as a 132-amino-acid His-tagged fusion protein, VEGF-E forms a functional homodimer with a predicted mass of ~35 kDa. It retains all eight cysteine residues critical to the cysteine knot motif of the VEGF family, closely resembling VEGF-A in structure and function. VEGF-E selectively binds to VEGF receptor-2 (KDR/Flk-1), activating receptor autophosphorylation and promoting angiogenesis. Unlike VEGF-A, it does not bind to VEGFR-1 (Flt-1) or VEGFR-3 (FLT-4), making it a potent and specific tool for studying VEGFR-2-mediated vascular biology. - 10ug
